Michael Kors, Inc. celebrates Mother’s Day by introducing the MICHAEL Michael Kors Joan Bag, a satchel from the Summer 2011 collection that Michael himself designed and named especially for his mother, Joan Kors.


For a designer celebrating 30 years in business, the Joan Bag speaks to the heritage and longstanding personal vision that remains fundamental to the Michael Kors label and has made the name synonymous with timeless luxury, pragmatic glamour and a modern point of view. The structured top-handle bowler satchel is a luxe carryall with an outside zip pocket and shoulder strap. It is a versatile staple for the modern jet-set woman. “My mother travels constantly and loves the idea of a bag that’s both utilitarian and luxurious, so I created the Joan Bag for her. There is no better way to celebrate the woman who has been there since the beginning…so this bag is a tribute to all mothers,” Michael Kors stated.

“Michael has demonstrated his design prowess starting at the tender age of six years old, helping me re-design my wedding dress. He has such a profound respect for women everywhere and it shows in every element of his creative process. I am honored to have this new bag dedicated to me, I think it’s symbolic of the love that sons have for their mothers the world over,” stated Joan Kors.

Produced in full-grain nappa leather, crocodile-embossed nappa, and patent leather - finished in either shiny rhodium or 18-karat-gold hardware, the Joan Bag will be available at select Michael Kors retail locations, the Michael Kors website and select department and specialty stores in April 2011.
